人体的大部分器官都不断有细胞衰亡也不断有新细胞出现，那么大脑是否也是这样呢？
目前的主流观点都认为神经元在人出生以后是不会更新的，脑细胞是死一个少一个。
近日，瑞士日内瓦大学和洛桑大学领导的科学家团队发现了激活这些神经干细胞的方法， 并成功地增加了成年甚至老年小鼠大脑中的新生神经元数量。
干细胞具有独特的能力，可以连续产生自身的副本，并产生具有更专门功能的分化细胞。神经干细胞（NSC）负责在胚胎发育过程中构建大脑，产生中枢神经系统的所有细胞，包括神经元。
