Apple refuses to replace display and wants to do full liquid damage repair only!?

Hi all.

I learned the hard way that the bottom of the MBA M2 display is not sealed / impervious.

I got a bit too trigger happy with the Iklear that some pooled up in between the hinges. In attempt to avoid any of it seeping into the case, I turned over the laptop for a half a minute to remove the excess.

To my surprise, the liquid made its way underneath the screen and left stain marks along the bottom 1/4 of it.

There was no operating issue or stickiness or even enough liquid to cause damage. Everything works fine.

I made an appointment with Apple for a screen replacement and explained the story to the Genius. Right away he said the only course of action is a screen, battery, and logic board replacement for $999. I asked if the repairman could defer until having a look see inside and he refused.

So basically I’m stuck with a 5 month old otherwise perfect MBA that’s not worth repairing Apple refuses to replace just the screen.

The odd thing is that the genius didn’t even suggest that it was possibly a design issue or could verify it.

Everything works fine and there’s no sticky keys or anything suspecting.

Is this typical Apple recourse or did I just get an indifferent worker?
