2月发射尝试失败后，日本航天部门已经敲定了H3火箭新的发射窗口时间，3月6日。
火箭开发团队项目经理Masashi Okada表示，种子岛航天基地的天气将决定着此次发射能否如期进行。
据悉，2月17日下午日本航天部门原计划首次发射H3火箭初号机，但由于出现故障，导致发射程序终止。日本方面强调，这次不算是失败，尽管部分媒体并不认同。
对于上次失败的原因，日本称是一级控制系统自检发现一级发动机的供电系统存在异常。幸运的是，火箭主体部分包括3吨的载荷（ALOS-3观测卫星）都没有受到破坏。
