This gift was not intended for just the teammates but the whole coaching staff as well. Internally, it is a normal iPhone 14 Pro Max, but the gift from Messi is a whole different device externally. On the outside, the devices are all dressed up in a 24-carat gold. There are some customizations at the back as well. Each phone has the name of one of the football players with his jersey number engraved beautifully behind it. The Apple logo in the middle is also replaced with a logo of AFA (Argentina Football Association). Beneath that, there is another inscription that says “World Cup Champions 2022).
In a conversation with The Sun, Lyons explained that “Lionel is not only the Goat but he’s one of IDESIGN GOLD’s most loyal customers. He got in touch with us a couple of months after the World Cup final. He said he wanted a special gift for all the players and staff to celebrate the amazing win but didn’t want the usual gift of watches. So, I suggested gold iPhones inscribed with their names, and he loved the idea.”
According to sources, the total cost of this gift amounts to £175,000. It is worth mentioning that after winning the MVP of the tournament in addition to the main trophy, Messi has also won the FIFA Best Player award at the recent Awards ceremony held at Paris.
