Hi. I am new at xda. I just bought this tablet and currently using windows10. My variant is 8/128. i just want to know if I can install Clean Android and make dual boot? i want win10/android both.

Man, great to hear it really exists! Where did you get the 8/128 GB version? Do you have a link? How is the overall performance on Win10? On mine (2/64 GB) it's rather slow.. Depending on what one is doing and wether it's perloaded.

How could i only see this 3 months later. That's so cool!
At the moment i'm trying to get Chrome OS with Brunch working on my Mi Pad 2. Just did it on a similar spec Lenovo 2-in-1 laptop and it basically gave it a new life with minor caveats. I don't think it's possible on Mi Pad 2 though, because of unavailable drivers and in my case, limited 16GB eMMC storage

Has anyone managed to get Chrome OS or any similar lightweight OS working on our device?

Hey, great to hear someone is actually attempting this. Although I really like to have a full Win10 in my pocket and also like how it works with a touchscreen, I don't it enjoy it too much performance wise..(2/64 GB). There is this chinese branch of ChromeOS called FydeOS. It is supposed to do exactly that: offer a lightweight destkop like environment, while being able to run android and linux apps right out of the box. They even released a tablet based on FydeOS (Fydetab) lately and it looks great. I tried to install FydeOS, but it wouldn't boot. There was an error message saying something about verification, if I recall correctly. It might be, that the hardware is not supported. I wrote an email to their support, asking if they could support Atom based systems. Let's see.

Thanks! That's really cool. This is the first time I see new iterations of such a dated product - makes total sense though, as the ram is the heaviest bottleneck and the rest is still fine. How much would that be in dollars or euros?

Do you have any limitations with spectre compact? Bugs? I tried installing it once but that was before I got standard windows running and it wouldn't boot spectre from the pen drive.
Android was pre-installed for mine, but it was this super old version with MIUI on it and some apps wouldn't work or crash. There are custom roms out there such as lineage os, but I think these versions are also rather outdated. And not sure how to get it running either..

Here's mine. Got it for $135 with free vouchers. Original Price of 8/128gb is $155.
Spectre is awesome. I'm using the latest release. Above all else I've used OS. Very easy to install and no bugs.
With 8gb ram, you can almost do anything. Except for heavy games coz the GPU cant handle it.
Tried PCSX2, can't hardly play Gran Turismo 4. But the rest of other emulators, it can handle smoothly.
Also browsing and Ms.Office runs smoothly. Playing 1080p's run smoothly.
4k's can run but with little stutters.

I think I will give up for android for now. 😁

Can either of you please answer the following set of questions? (I never installed Windows on a tablet, thus the questions.)
  • So you started the install from the tablet? Or did you put it on an usb driver via an using a usb hub?
  • Did you change the partition layout somehow (looking for possible improvements)?
  • How is it with the drivers?
  • Are you running superlite or compact version?
So you installed a thicker pad reaching from the cpu to the backplate? Do you (possibly) remember some of the specs of the pad you used? Did you made pictures? [edit] nevermind .. i ordered some 2mm thick stuff according to the thread you linked.

Regards

Hey, not sure if still of any interest, but I used this

EC360® Bronze 8W/mK Wärmeleitpad (100 x 100 x 1,5 mm)

Thermal Pad Amazon Link

The 1.5 mm are important. This is the ideal thickness to make good contanct but won't lead to any bulges. The specs are also very decent especially for the price. Of course you can get better, but you don't want to spend a fortune on this mod. I am quite pleased with the result. I didn't benchmark the temps however. Bear in mind that the backplate will warm up quite a bit after the mod. I did it btw by cutting out a square of the plastic cover with a cutting knife. The square is the same size as the SOC below and I covered that space with an exact cutout of the thermal pad.

Wow this is amazing! I'm quite envious D: Do you know, if there's a shop who could upgrade my tablet to 8 GB !?

Oh, I just noticed that you ordered a pad already =D .... Did it work?

Display overclocking?

I never thought I'd still be using my MiPad 2 in 2023, but I'm running stock windows 11 pro with the thermal pad mod to read books and watch Netflix and it works just fine. I also replaced the battery about a year ago and it's been holding up well.

I've got a question: Has anyone been able to overclock the display? I've tried using CRU, but I think that the Intel Atom inside is only compatible with a version of Intel graphics that won't support anything over 60hz. Even a small overclock would be welcome. For example, I was able to overclock the screen on my 60hz steamdeck (running windows) to 69hz and that has made a good difference when it comes to scrolling text.

Hey, can't say that I tried. Would be interesting though. Even I feel that those 75 Hz of my GF's PC screen add just that tiny bit of smootheness that makes quite a difference.

Considering there's this new version of the Mi Pad 2, I was wondering, if they have new accessories for it. I'm looking for a type cover keyboard specifically, something like the one for the Surface (very thin, with touchpad, for 8").
