This brave sailor survived at sea eating ketchup. Now Heinz wants to buy him a new boat.
Heinz is searching for a Dominican man who survived nearly a month at sea with nothing but ketchup and seasonings.
The ketchup maker says it wants to help him buy a new boat and it's asking for the public’s help to find him.
“You may remember Elvis Francois as the brave sailor who survived on nothing but ketchup and spices while adrift at sea for 24 days," Heinz said in an Instagram SOS. "Well, Heinz wants to celebrate his safe return home and help him buy a new boat… but we can’t seem to find him.
"So, we’re setting this message adrift into the sea of the internet, because if anyone can help us find him, it’s you. If you or anyone you know can help us get in contact with Elvis Francois, please drop us a DM.”

After hearing about Francois last month, Heinz attempted to get in touch with him to give him "a new state-of-the-art boat," the company told USA TODAY. It also reached out to the Colombian Navy who found him at sea and Dominica Immigration services, but had no luck. So it took its search to social media.
"We’re also asking for any credible leads to contact Elvis so we can reward him with a new boat equipped with full navigational technology to avoid another disaster in the future," Heinz said in a statement.
So far, the social media campaign – #FindTheKetchupBoatGuy – has not turned up any leads on his whereabouts.
Francois, 47, was found 120 nautical miles northwest of Colombia’s Puerto Bolívar after a plane spotted the word “help” written on the hull of his sailboat, the Colombian Navy said.

Francois was making repairs to his boat in December off the island of St., when bad weather hit, pulling the boat out to sea.

What inflation? Many employers will offer less generous pay raises this year.
Payscale this week came out with its highly anticipated 2023 Compensation Best Practices Report, which turns out to be a mixed bag for employees: smaller raises, maybe semi-annual salary bumps and a dollop of extras to make up with companies’ Scrooge-like behavior. The bad news for most of us: fewer employers plan to bump up salaries this year.

Booking Holdings says quarterly revenue up 36% on strong travel demand
NEW YORK (Reuters) -Online travel agency Booking Holdings Inc said on Thursday it set a new record in January for monthly room night bookings, with travelers booking vacations further out than they did during the pandemic. Travel companies including Booking's peer, vacation rental Airbnb Inc, have reported strong fourth-quarter results on sustained travel demand, despite economic concerns. "We are encouraged by the continued strength and resiliency of demand from travelers last year and into the new year, which we believe speaks to our consumers’ strong desire to use our platforms when booking their travel," said Glenn Fogel, Booking's chief executive officer.

Qantas leaps to record H1 profit but fare moderation spooks investors
Australian flagship airline Qantas Airways Ltd swung to a record first-half profit as appetite for travel grew faster than it could sell seats, but warned sky-high fares would moderate as it and competitors added more flights, sending its shares down 6%. The update reflects the precipice that airlines around the world are facing: raging demand from a population shaking off years of pandemic restriction has jacked up fares and profits, just as increasing mortgage payments, grocery prices and fuel bills start to curb spending power. It also gives a taste of the market that U.S. private equity firm Bain Capital must navigate if it proceeds with an initial public offering of domestic rival Virgin Australia this year.

Many CDs are paying way more than they used to (think upwards of 4%-4.5%), but should you take one out?
If you’re on the hunt for a safe place to park your money with a guaranteed return of sometimes 4% or more, you may want to consider a certificate of deposit. Also known as a CD, this savings vehicle pays a fixed interest rate for a set period of time. While earning that interest rate may sound appealing, it’s important to note that CDs effectively tie your money up for anywhere from a few months to several years, and withdrawing cash from one before it matures can result in a cumbersome penalty fee.
