Tapzo Smart Sustainable Business Card

Business cards are great, but they could be better...What if we made a disposable item, re-usable? But actually re-usable, like for life. The idea for this project began in 2015 at my final year of University, studying Graphic and Media Design at UAL:LCC.

However it quickly became apparent that the accessibility of NFC on consumers smartphones, just wasn't there to make the idea viable into a business, however the idea never left my mind. Fast forward and nearly all of today’s smartphones and smartwatches are equipped with NFC technology. (Thank you ApplePay and GooglePay).

The real journey to create Tapzo began in June 2020. It took over a year of research and development, learning new skills, experimenting and collaborating with many amazing people to get to a stage where we were comfortable soft launching v.1 in November 2022.

Unfortunately since beginning the journey in 2020, a few competitors have popped up with a similar idea, however we've always viewed competition as a healthy part of growth and improvement so we welcome this competition with open arms.

Since our soft launch, we've learnt a lot and implemented many updates to improve our service, which we're now launching to the public!

A few major updates we're very proud of are;

1. Click and drag online design editor: This allows our customers to create their own designs on our website. No graphic design knowledge or any third party software required.

2. Interaction Analytics: Another major update we've worked hard on since launching is the ability to get data on how many people have interacted with your profile or downloaded your contact details.

3. Manage your Connection: What if our customers don't want a Tapzo profile? We developed a mobile app that is free for iOS and Android devices that allows customers to change the connection of their smart business card. Have your smart business card connect to a Tapzo Profile, a Contact vCard, or any custom URL. With these options, the possibilities are endless!

Our smart business cards are a better sustainable alternative to regular paper business cards that are actually coated in plastic making them non recyclable and take gallons of water to create. We want to give people the option to do better for the Planet, but also be more efficient with their networking.
