Oppo CPU

Recently, smartphone companies have been introducing their own chips. These allow the brands to get greater control over the processing and computational performance of their devices. And Oppo decided to join. Yes, it does already have a connectivity chip called MariSilicon Y and an NPU MariSillicon X.

But Oppo does not yet have a true SoC for its smartphones. However, a recent report suggests that the Chinese brand wants to come up with a true chipset as fast as possible. It wants to retain its competitive edge in the smartphone market. And according to an insider, the in-house SoC might launch sooner than expected.

But that is not all that the Weibo blogger had to share. The user also stated that Oppo would work with the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Better known as TSMC, it is a foundry that is best known for making Snapdragon SoCs and CPUs for Apple.

The blogger also says that the Oppo silicon is already “tapped out.” That means it has been designed fully and is ready to go to the next step. That is, all that is left for the in-house CPU is to go through the manufacturing process. But what the blogger suggests is that the SoC is unlikely to come out before 2024.

Nonetheless, when the in-house CPU does come out, it might appear in the Oppo and OnePlus devices that will be launched throughout 2024. We are patiently waiting to see how the new CPU will compare against Snapdragon and MediaTek SoCs.
