Aurora超算系统是美国能源部阿贡国家实验室的超级计算机项目，将基于英特尔Sapphire Rapids和Ponte Vecchio构建，实现每秒百亿亿级（ExaFLOP）的运算能力。由于英特尔研发方面的问题，该项目出现了延误。
近期英特尔为Aurora超算系统部署的Borealis测试系统终于上线了，将用于在全面上线之前运行系统性能评估、压力测试以及调试技术和架构，总算跨出了里程碑的一步。英特尔还发布了Borealis测试系统的视频，有兴趣的可以点击去官网观看。
Aurora将有大约10000个刀片服务器，每个都配有两个Xeon Max CPU和六个Ponte Vecchio GPU。英特尔Borealis测试系统与Aurora超算系统架构是一样的，配置和可扩展设置方面是相同的，只不过只有128台刀片服务器，同时CPU暂时使用的是第四代英特尔至强可扩展处理器，并不是性能更强、配有HBM的型号。据了解，其节点为八个HPE Slingshot-11互连系统，采用了蜻蜓拓扑结构。
此前英特尔曾表示，Aurora超算系统旨在处理高性能计算、AI/ML和大数据分析工作负载，可以实现2 ExaFLOP的峰值计算能力。整个Aurora超算系统大概占地两个篮球场大小，在正式推出的时候，预计将成为少数几个达到Exascale级别的超级计算机之一。
