SEANA SMITH: All right, let's take a look at what we are watching for next week. On Monday, the markets are closed for Washington's birthday. On Tuesday, though, we get January existing home sales data. And we also get earnings from Walmart, Home Depot, Molson Coors, Coinbase, Toll Brothers, and Transocean. On Wednesday afternoon, the minutes from the February 1st Fed meeting will be released. On the earnings front, TJX, Baidu, Nvidia, Lucid, eBay, Etsy, and IMAX all set to report.
Thursday, we get jobless claims and fourth quarter GDP data. We also get quarterly reports from Alibaba, Moderna, Wayfair, Warner Brothers Discovery, Block, and Carvana. Friday is chock full of data. We're going to get consumer spending and personal income, consumer sentiment, new home sales, January PCE. Lots to dig into, David. Next week is going to be quite a busy week for us between earnings and all that econ data, which is so important to the Fed at this point.
DAVE BRIGGS: I'm most looking forward to Monday on that calendar.
SEANA SMITH: We got the day off. You and I both. You and I both.
DAVE BRIGGS: No, secondarily, I would have to point out Walmart. Walmart gives us a good look at the consumer and this question we've really been trying to digest here with Coke and Pepsi, how much they raised their prices, are they seeing any pull back from the consumer. Those are always a fascinating one that gives us a read on where we're headed.
SEANA SMITH: Yeah, certainly. We will be highly anticipating that report.

Buy These 2 EV Charging Stocks, Analysts Say, Forecasting Over 50% Upside
Say ‘electric vehicle’ these days, and Elon Musk is probably the first association that will come to mind. Lithium miner Sigma jumps on report Tesla considering buyout
Tesla has been speaking with potential advisers about a bid, the report said, citing people with knowledge of the matter, and added that Sigma Lithium is one of the many mining options the electric-vehicle maker is exploring as it mulls its own refining. Tesla and Sigma Lithium did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment. Sigma is finishing construction of a hard rock lithium mine in Brazil that it expects to open by April.

Exclusive-Discover to enable tracking of purchases at gun retailers from April
Discover Financial Services, a provider of credit cards, told Reuters it will allow its network to track purchases at gun retailers come April, making it the first among its peers to move ahead with the initiative aimed at helping authorities probe gun-related crimes. The decision came after the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which decides on the classification of merchant categories used by payment cards, approved in September the launch of a dedicated code for gun retailers. Proponents of the move, including gun control activists and Democratic politicians, say it will allow financial institutions to better assist authorities in investigating crimes involving gun violence in the United States.

CNBC's Becky Quick Fires Back at Viewer Upset About Network's Coverage of Tesla
CNBC correspondent Becky Quick was quick to correct a disgruntled Twitter commenter on Feb. 17 when it came to her stance on the Tesla recall announced by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration on Feb. 16. When the user tagged her in a tweet commenting that she should look at other recalls besides Tesla's and pointing her toward an Apple security issue identified on Feb. 14 (which was not a recall), she had no problem clarifying her thoughts on the matter -- with an equal serving of salt. Commenters in the thread quickly jumped back into the use of the word "recall," which Musk pushed back on publicly after the NHTSA announcement in a Twitter exchange with Ark Invest Director Sam Korus.
