OnePlus Ace 2

The OnePlus Ace 2, which is basically OnePlus 11R, launched back on February 7th in China. And as you can guess, the device sits below the current OnePlus flagship, the OnePlus 11. However, the OnePlus seems not to be pleased with the current 11 lineup. It is currently working on the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, which can debut soon!

So, how does OnePlus plan to position the Ace 2 Pro 5G? Well, as the name suggests, it will seemingly sit above the regular Ace 2 5G. However, we just had a spec sheet leak. And the leak suggests the phone is not actually a “Pro.” Instead, it is a downgrade!

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro Specifications Leaked

According to Digital Chat Station, a reliable leaker, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro will come with a PHP110 model number. And the tipster suggests that the phone will have the same screen as the regular Ace 2 5G. That is, it will feature the same 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a hole punch at the top center.

In other words, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro display will not see an upgrade. However, the leaker suggests that the screen will not be as curved as the regular model. Instead, the display will be flat, which is something OnePlus fans would really love.

Other than that, OnePlus will pack the Ace 2 Pro with a Dimensity 9000 SoC. And when it comes to RAM options, you will be able to pair the SoC with up to 16GB of RAM.

Besides, the phone will feature a beefy 5000mAh battery, and it will support 100W fast charging out of the box. Also, the primary camera on the back is going to be the OmniVision OV64M. It is a 64MP sensor and has an f/1.79 aperture. There will also be an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide camera sensor and a 2MP GalaxyCore GC02M macro camera.

Pro? The Specs Say Otherwise!

So, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro spec sheet is not as promising as expected. Considering the fact that it has “Pro” in its name, we wanted to see it coming with at least Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

Now, if you are not caught up, the OnePlus Ace 2 came with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. It is a last-gen CPU, and the Pro should have definitely had an upgrade in this regard.

Gizchina News of the week

Still, it is not like the Dimensity 9000 SoC will not offer good performance. It will! But the main thing is, that SoC can not even catch up to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in benchmarks. So, seeing an inferior chip in a “Pro” version is really disappointing.

But the SoC is not the only thing. The camera setup is inferior too! Looking back, the OnePlus Ace 2 came with a 50MP IMX980 primary camera. That is much better than the OmniVision OV64M that the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro might come with. At least, the differences will be pretty noticeable.

Naming aside, if OnePlus prices the Ace 2 Pro accordingly, it can be a good device for purchase. That is, if it comes to the international market, of course. Maybe as a Nord device?

On that note, OnePlus also plans to bring out Ace 2 Racing Edition. And even though the name sounds fancy, it will come with Dimensity 8200 SoC. And from what it seems, the Racing Edition could launch as the Nord 3 in the global market.

But remember, nothing is confirmed yet. So, take all these pieces of info with grains of salt. Still, let us know what you think about the Ace 2 Pro. Will you buy it if it launches globally?
