The ability to collaborate with one another is arguably the most important aspect of human life that has persisted since ancient times and has been pivotal in ensuring our species’ survival. Our ability to work together and coordinate our efforts has allowed us to tackle challenges that would have been impossible for individuals to overcome alone.

From building shelter, to hunting for food, to creating complex societies, the ability to collaborate has been a defining characteristic of human evolution. It has enabled us to achieve remarkable things and paved the way for the advancement of civilization.

This ability to work together and support each other remains as critical today as it was in the past, and will continue to play a crucial role in our future success as a species.

We live together, work together, build companies, make scientific discoveries and much more. It’s incredible. It’s inspiring. A small group of people can create new things, move humanity forward and solve problems that we could not have solved alone.

One big problem.

And I’ve noticed something that I find quite puzzling: finding like-minded individuals who are willing to collaborate with one another can be incredibly challenging. If we look back in history, it’s apparent that many successful collaborations took place almost by chance. People met each other, became friends, and opportunities arose from these chance encounters. It wasn’t as simple as going on LinkedIn, finding people who wanted to start a new company, sending them a message, and immediately starting a business together. Of course, there may be a few exceptions to this, but they are the exception rather than the norm.

I myself have recently encountered this problem. I want to find a partner, but I’m not sure how to do it effectively. I understand that I could use platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter to expand my network and reach potential collaborators, but the problem is that these platforms lack the capability to state your intentions clearly and search for individuals based on shared goals or interests.

For example, sending thousands of cold emails may not be a desirable option, but it is often a necessary step in the process of finding potential partners. This is similar to the concept of cold sales, where a large number of emails are sent in the hopes of finding individuals who have a specific problem that you have a solution for.

However, the basis of collaboration is having a shared intention or goal, and finding someone who shares that same vision. But on popular platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, it’s difficult to search for individuals based on their intentions, as the advanced filtering options are limited.

In short, finding a partner who shares your vision and goals is a challenging task, and it’s unfortunate that the most popular platforms don’t make it any easier.

There are many examples that illustrate this problem. For instance, if you’re a blogger and you want to find other bloggers with a similar following to potentially collaborate with and reach a new audience, it’s difficult to do so directly on platforms like Instagram. You would have to search for a separate service, sign up, go through multiple steps just to find the right person. This can be quite cumbersome.

The reality is that we all need people in some way, whether you’re a scientist, an entrepreneur, or a content creator. When we collaborate with others, we have the potential to grow faster and achieve more than we would on our own.

Opportunity.

I see this problem as an opportunity to create a solution. I’m not entirely sure what that solution looks like yet, but I’m determined to find a way to solve it for myself and for others who are facing similar challenges.
