沙特航天委员会宣布，计划今年5月执行的美国初创商业航天企业Axiom Space(公理太空)的Ax-2任务中，将有两名来自沙特的航天员，搭乘SpaceX龙飞船，一同飞向国际空间站。
其中，
现年33岁的拉伊亚纳?巴纳维(Rayyanah Barnawi)，将是沙特的第一位女宇航员，工作是研究癌症。
她和31岁的战斗机飞行员阿里?阿尔卡尔尼(Ali AlQarni)，将成为第一批前往国际空间站的沙特人，也是沙特史上第二位和第三位进入太空的人。
二人将在太空执行为期10天的任务，均担任任务专家。
