Public cloud adoption, corporate diversity and the importance of listening to the data

More diversity inside an organization equates to more diverse ideas.

In fact, businesses should see diversity as a profitable venture instead of a checkbox to fill, according to Rochelle Manns (pictured), vice president of cloud platforms at Converge Technology Solutions Corp., an information technology and cloud solutions provider.

“The data proves itself, so it doesn’t have to be a checkbox for these diversity inclusion goals, because the data’s there to prove that we’re all here to be profitable — follow that data,” she stated.

Manns spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Lisa Martin for the “Special Program Series: Women of the Cloud,” during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the benefits of diversity in the corporate world and Manns’ successes and advice in cloud computing. (* Disclosure below.)

The journey of cloud adoption

Cloud adoption is a long journey that businesses have found themselves needing to undergo to stay competitive. But, internally, it can disrupt the workings of a business. So Converge Technology Solutions works with companies to create a trusting relationship with an end goal of helping them with their cloud adoption needs.

“When we have wins against competitors that have been in the cloud space and that’s all they do, I take that as a personal stamp of endorsement, because we’ve shown and demonstrated to those clients that we’re the right ones to take ’em on that journey,” Manns said.

Sometimes cloud adoption can seem slow for businesses, but it must be a well thought-out process to work effectively, according to Manns. By speeding through the process and only looking at the direct profits received from data centers without considering the human resources inside can be disastrous.

“The journey to being more competitive than their competitors is just that — it’s a journey. It’s a multiphased, multistep process,” Manns said.
