Google has introduced Android 14 in its first Developer Preview, which is now available for the Google Pixel 4a and above. But Android 14 contains a hidden menu that shows apps that have been installed in the background, for example when inserting a SIM card or during the initial device setup.
Android 14 supports uninstalling pre-installed applications
Bloatware on Android refers to pre installed apps that are left unused. But not all pre installed apps are equal, some can be uninstalled, while others cannot. Android 14 is finally addressing this issue with the secret menu “Apps installed in the background”. This menu is expected to be integrated into the Applications section of the settings in a future reorganization.
Google describes these background-installed apps as those installed by the device manufacturer or allowed by the carrier and other partners. They also note that these apps are not necessary for the normal functioning of the mobile device and the user can uninstall them if he wishes.
According to XDA‘s Mishaal Rahman, the menu will likely show apps that have not been installed through ADB or foreground services like the Google Play store. It remains to see how easy it will be to access this menu and if it will appear in the options.

Allowing users to select which Android apps they want to clone. This feature will allow for having two identical apps. Which will come in handy for using different accounts on the same app. Especially when the app does not support multiple accounts. For example, one can have two WhatsApp apps, each with a different phone number.
Please note that as this is a very early developer preview, this feature is not yet functional and we will have to wait for the next development versions of Android 14 to see when app cloning becomes available.
