Support is great. Feedback is even better.

Most people who want to learn a new language quit because it is not fun. With Flipchat you can learn a language by doing what you like to do: chatting with your friends.
Oscar, before I can figure out whether or not your app supports the language that I'm interested in, I need to sign up, provide my phone number, and give you access to all of my contacts. 1. Give me a list of supported languages first, please. 2. Let me see more (a video, perhaps?) on what will happen once I've given you all my data (including a prominent privacy policy.) 3. You've obviously done some great work with the language engine APIs; why not use Twilio to connect this up through existing Messenger apps like WhatsApp? Do I really need another messaging app? Keep going!!!
@gregg_berretta Thnx for the feedback man! will work on it. We decided not to use Twilio yet but first see how this works as a stand alone version. The downside of Twilio is that the value of your own network is lower and the business becomes easier to copy. We have a privacy policy but maybe we should give it a more prominent place in the app.

@flipchat I’m old and struggling to learn a new language so I’m really counting on you to get this right. My response to the Twilio thing: I get it completely. But if you launch on WhatsApp next week (yes, it’s possible) you’ll be so entrenched and so far ahead of everyone else that you won’t care about who copies you. If you delay and someone else gets there before you, nobody will need your product at all.

That’s the leap of faith. Have competitors and compete to win or avoid competitors and allow one of them to put all your code and effort into the dustbin.

@gregg_berretta, another reason we didn't choose a system like Twilio is the cost involved. According to the internet, they charge $0.005 per message, which means that if a user sends 100 messages a day (which is not uncommon for young people), the cost becomes $0.50 a day, not taking into account received messages. I don't think this is sustainable, as the costs could easily become a few dollars each day for an active user. Maybe instead of using Twilio, we can create our own back-end, but that would require time.
That's pretty cool. Now, I am learning Deutsch via Duo Lingo. Is anybody there vulnerable to chat with me in This language via Flipchat? 😁 I can provide Slovak or Czech knowledge in return.

@busmark_w_nika The cool thing about Flipchat is that you both can learn your own languages at the same time. You can type in English or Czech and learn German. I can type in Dutch and learn Spanish. So instead of looking for a language partner who offers the same language you want to learn you can learn German with all of your friends.

If you want to chat with me, my username is Oscar

I think the universe might be telling me it's time to get back into my Spanish. This is the second app I've found today that really looks cool for learning languages!
@britt_joiner Gracias! If you need a conversation partner my username is: oscar
