OnePlus will fold! OnePlus V Fold and V Flip coming soon

The foldable party has finally reached the brands at BBK Electronics Group. After Oppo and Vivo, it seems that another brand is about to make its entrance into this segment. We are talking about OnePlus! Yes, the brand behind the legendary OnePlus One, has a myriad of fans across the world. OnePlus will finally use its appeal as a brand to conquer the fans of the foldable segment. According to a new leak, we can soon expect a OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip coming from the brand.

For a brand that started with a single device, OnePlus has been quickly increasing the range of its products. From Smart TVs to Smart Wearables the brand has been diversifying its portfolio. On February 7th, we will see the brand launching its very first tablet – OnePlus Pad – and also its first keyboard. When it comes to smartphones, OnePlus will soon add one more category to its growing portfolio. According to tipster Mukul Sharma, the brand will soon launch its first foldable phones. The moniker OnePlus V Fold probably stands for a device like the Galaxy Z Fold, Oppo Find N, etc. Whereas the OnePlus V Flip likely stands for a clamshell foldable like the Galaxy Z Flip or the recently-released Oppo Find N2 Flip.

The tipster spotted trademark filings for the two monikers – OnePlus V Flip, and OnePlus V Fold. The company is certainly reserving these titles for future use, and that is not an indication of an imminent release. However, Sharma states that we may see these phones will launch soon. After all, they are being tested in many regions, including Europe. Unfortunately, there is no info about the specifications of the two-foldable. Anyway, we assume that some specs like the CPU are subject to change.

The brand’s entrance into the foldable segment has been teased before. The software executive Gary Chen confirmed OnePlus is working along with Google for its future foldable phones. Then, later in August, the brand’s CEO Pete Lau shared an image of a hinge mechanism. Since then we have not heard much about OnePlus Foldable’s venture, but the OnePlus V Flip and V Fold indicate the brand is preparing the ground.

The OnePlus V Fold will not be a surprise

To recall, Oppo unveiled its second generation Find N2 in December last year. The device came alongside the OnePlus Find N2 Flip which is the only one to reach global markets. Meanwhile, the bigger device will remain limited to the Chinese market. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the upcoming OnePlus foldable will be based on the Oppo Find N2 series. So, we expect the OnePlus V Fold to be basically a OnePlus version of the Find N2. This will not sound strange to those who know that OnePlus and Oppo are basically the same company nowadays.

Once Oppo and OnePlus launch their foldable in the global markets, we will see major competition facing the Samsung Galaxy Z series. In fact, 2023 will be a hectic year for foldable fans. The true party will finally begin, and Samsung will need to push its efforts to keep the segment under its belt. Worth noting that Honor is also bringing its Honor Magic Vs to the global scene in the next month. Even Google is expected to launch its first foldable Pixel later this year.

Getting back to the point, the OnePlus V Fold may be based on the Oppo Find N2, but we still expect a unique design.
