Would Ukraine still be standing now had Britain been obliged to defer to a formal EU-UK security pact?
You can sense them already champing at the bit, egged on by party members and by the party’s strong polling. I’m talking about the Labour MPs and shadow ministers who were uncomfortable with Keir Starmer’s policy of ruling out Britain rejoining the EU. Starmer may have come to the conclusion that dallying with the Rejoin movement would amount to suicide in the former Red Wall, but it isn’t shared by the party at large, and certainly not by the member of the audience for David Lammy’s speech to the Chatham House think thank on Tuesday, who called Starmer’s policy “stupid”. ...
