hey everyone, my name is mike, and i'm the founder of ensemble. after getting bored of the spotify algorithm and wanting to expand my music taste, i tried using social media for music. it sucked. here's why: 1. social music gets really boring, really quickly. you can only sit through so many feeds of music before you go back to what you know and love, especially when an algorithm can suggest stuff you'll love with near certainty. 2. music sharing sucks without context. with everybody just throwing out their favourite music, there's no guarantee that you'll enjoy it. so why even bother in the first place? 3. lack of rewards. we love the feeling of sharing music that others love. a simple "like" feature doesn't capture that emotion.
