022年6月， 曾有消息称腾讯正式成立XR（扩展现实）部门，备战元宇宙竞赛。
该部门由腾讯游戏全球首席技术官李申领导，任务是为腾讯建立包含软件和硬件在内的完整XR技术业务，并成为腾讯互动娱乐事业群（IEG）的一部分。
但根据科创板日报消息，
成立仅仅半年的XR部门现在出现了原业务负责人离职，部分业务暂停的情况。
报道称，腾讯XR部门由腾讯高级副总裁、游戏业务实际操盘手马晓轶为总负责人，腾讯游戏工作室NExT Studios负责人沈黎为XR具体业务负责人。
