Google has released Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2 (T2B2.221216.006) for selected Pixel devices. This update fixes important bugs, speeds up the device, and adds a security patch for January to ensure users’ devices are safe.
Android 13 QPR2 Now Available for Google Pixels
Google has released its second Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs) beta. Indeed, the releases are meant to fix and improve the platform quarterly. This update seems mandatory as the Pixel January update could not fix a certain bug. Additionally, the update has resulted in a new Bluetooth and Android Auto bug.
Unfortunately, the release notes of the QPR2 Beta 2 didn’t address the fix for the Bluetooth issue. The latest update seems to offer no help for specific users. However, the QPR2 Beta 2 will resolve the following issues:
- Previously, the System UI made the Home Screen unresponsive; this update will resolve the issue.
- Similarly, there was an issue with the Google Camera app. After switching from Slow Motion mode, the app captures Slow Motion video. The QPR2 Beta 2 update will fix the said issue.
What are Quarterly Platform Release Betas?
Many of us might have been unfamiliar with QPR betas and how regular betas and developer previews differ from these. QPRs are reliable for general use. They contain “the next round of bug fixes and improvements for stability and performance.” Moreover, they include features rolled out to Pixel devices with Feature Drops.
Pixel devices enrolled in the Android 13 beta program will automatically receive an update to QPR2 Beta 2 through an over-the-air incremental update. Alternatively, you can manually upgrade to the latest beta release by downloading the full OTA or the factory image from the provided links.
Gizchina News of the week
The update is necessary for Pixel users and is intended to fix issues such as an unresponsive home screen and problems with the Google Camera app. But it has also been said that it led to a new bug in Bluetooth and Android Auto.
