据国铁集团，2023年，国家铁路预计完成旅客发送量26.9亿人次，同比增长67.6%；预计完成货物发送量39.7亿吨，同比增长1.8%。
同时，全面完成国家铁路投资任务，高质量推进川藏铁路等国家重点工程， 预计投产新线3000公里以上，其中高铁2500公里。
2022年，全国铁路完成固定资产投资7109亿元，投产新线4100公里，其中高铁2082公里，和若铁路、合杭高铁湖杭段、银兰高铁中兰段等29个铁路项目建成投产。
自主研发的世界领先新型复兴号高速综合检测列车， 创造了明线相对交会时速870公里世界纪录。
