Apple Mixed Reality Headset

Apple’s own AR/VR headset which has a popular name of Mixed Reality has been in the talks for some time now. Many expected Apple to launch this device in 2022. However, this did not come out to be the case.

We are now in 2023 and the talks seems to continue, even though there is a very high possibility of seeing the headset from Apple this year.

Apple Mixed Reality Headset May Launch in Q2 or Q3 of 2023

According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s mixed-reality headset may not be released until the end of Q2 or Q3 of 2023. Kuo cites issues with mechanical component, drop testing and a lack of software development tools. This seems to be the main reasons for the delay.

While it was previously thought that the headset might be unveiled in January. Kuo now believes it is more likely that the announcement will be pushed to the Spring. If not Spring, then it will possibly be at the WWDC conference in June. And it will all depend on the progress of development.

Apple is Building Partnerships for the Mixed Reality Headset

Apple is said to be working with movie makers and game developers. To develop games and make movies for this platform. Aside that, there are also reports that Apple wants to develop a special App store purposely for the headset.

Such works may easily be said, but it takes a while which can contribute to the delay of the Mixed Reality headset. It is not just about making of the headset; it is also about how vibrant the whole platform will be. Apple is a very big and trusted brand which does not like failing in its endeavors.

This goes the long way to explain why Apple keeps pushing the launch of the headset forward. As Kuo has already said, the Apple Mixed Reality headset may launch either in the Spring or at the WWDC conference. This means latest by the mid of 2023, we will see the headset in real life action.
