Vanilla News

The news, but without all the opinions

The News is so divisive nowadays. This app takes news from the newspapers with the highest circulation (from across the political spectrum) and removes the opinions.

Great job on launching this app! It's so important to get news without the opinions.

Great idea and great name.

The opinion section used to be a couple pages in the newspaper. Now it's one of the main traffic sources at CNN, Fox News and NY Times. Just look at the prime real estate it gets on their homepages.

Really like what you're doing here!!

@stevebenjamins Agreed. Maybe it's a result of the war for clicks that we have nowadays. Opinion pieces tend to get more clicks because they generate a more emotional response from readers. Weirdly, I'd love it we could make Vanilla the most boring place to read the news on the internet.

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is well after New Year's! I made this because I find it so frustrating to read the news and get constantly bombarded with both left and right-wing propaganda. I just want to keep up with current affairs with a good knowledge of the facts, so I've created a website which edits out the obvious opinions from articles and just leaves the facts.

In the future, subscribers will be able to vote on what is fact and what is opinion, since I believe that it's important for the masses to be the arbiters of truth, rather than one person or company.

I'd be very grateful for any feedback (particularly negative), and would love to chat about potential ideas, issues or thoughts.

Thanks, Chris

@chris_mark3 Congratulations on the launch!! Rooting for you success
This is great. How are you doing it? Are you using tech or doing this manually?
@greg_productpair Hi Greg, at the moment we're manually updating it every day, but the next version of the website will allow members to essentially vote on which bits to remove.
