The world’s first 2000 nit ultra-high brightness OLED mobile phone screen is here

South Korean brand, Samsung is one of the major players in the mobile display market. At the moment, the display brightness of mobile phones generally ranges from 500 nits to 1500 nits. However, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra breaks the display brightness upper limit with its 1750 nits brightness. It is the perfect mobile phone to use in a very bright environment. However, it appears that Samsung is not done with improving the brightness of mobile phone displays. Today, Samsung Display launched a new OLED mobile phone screen at CES 2023. This new OLED mobile phone display comes with a max. brightness of 2000 nits.

Samsung 2000 nit display has some certifications

This screen has also passed the certification of UL (Underwriters Laboratories), UL is a global testing organization. Also, it has obtained the “UDR (Ultra Dynamic Range, ultra-high dynamic range)” mark.

At the same time, the official placed two screens on the booth for comparison and display. One of the screens is a “UDR 2000” certified screen, and the other is a traditional screen. It can be seen that the new screen completely crushes the traditional screen in terms of brightness and color performance. In simple terms, the new screen brings a much better visual experience.

According to Samsung Display, with the increase in UHD video content, the brightness range (dynamic range) displayed on mobile phone screens is becoming more important. The new OLED mobile phone screen is based on color expression. It presents consumers with 3D and realistic picture quality.

In addition, to ensure improved visibility of mobile phone screens in bright outdoor environments during the day, Samsung Display has improved the brightness characteristics of the display while maintaining power consumption or energy efficiency of organic materials. This means that despite its higher brightness, the new Samsung 2000 nit ultra-high brightness OLED mobile phone screen will not consume more power.
