Do you still have it on your Mac? Try hovering over it until it shows the name then try looking for it in the App Store. If you can't find it, try searching online for it. If you do find it online (or in the App Store), please share the name and its hank purpose with us.
Thank you.
Thank you.
It's always highlighted like in the photo, mouse over gives me nothing.

It's the screen sharing icon that notifies that someone/something is viewing your screen. You should have activated Screen Sharing In System Settings -> General.

I guess it's a system Bug, otherwise i don't have another explanation.

i have screen sharing on, but don't have that icon. do you have any apps similar to zoom or skype?
that doesn't look like an apple menubar icon design (unless it's a holdover from mac OS from the 1950s...)

check in system settings>general>login items, see what apps are set to open on bootup there... icon might belong to one of those apps
Have you set up a focus mode with that icon/symbol? If so, that may be why it’s showing. Had a panic myself because of a different icon appearing in my task bar, then realised what it was

Have you checked Desk View, suggested above? #6 It looks to be the same icon. It's not Focus mode and not startup items.

Thanks a lot , i guess someone in my office is using this feature on his iPhone.
I personally don't have an iPhone , can i block this feature from osx itself ?
** my entire sharing section is off **

I am not aware of any official way to do that.
It might be possible to get rid of it by installing a profile with allowActivityContinuation set to false
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/restrictions
If you have a firewall installed, you could try to block connections for the ContinuityCaptureAgent (/usr/libexec/ContinuityCaptureAgent)
With SIP disabled, ContinuityCaptureAgent can be closed and prevented from starting again.

Have you checked if Remote Management is enabled under the Sharing pane in System Preferences? That will also enable Screen Sharing.
Have a look at your Applications folder to see if there are any apps that you don't recognize. Consider an app like Malwarebytes to run a scan.

…or message Apple support via the app, they should know…
This icon is Screen Sharing. Somebody has accessed your screen. If you click on it, the menu which appears will show the IP address of the computer accessing your screen.

calm down... the OP has screen sharing 'off'. no need to panic. and yes, it might be time to call apple, let them screen share, and see if they can pin it down...This icon is Screen Sharing. I am calm. And I would bet that the OP does not have screen sharing off...calm down... the OP has screen sharing 'off'. no need to panic. and yes, it might be time to call apple, let them screen share, and see if they can pin it down...

That looks like the SharePlay screen sharing icon to me, which is independent of the Sharing preferences Screen Sharing setting. Could be a bug.Can anyone tell me what is this icon ? i can appear randomly and i have to restart my mac to make it disappear. View attachment 2132980

Thanks Mr. Awesome, it's probably a system bug.
