对于华为来说，一直在推动光纤的升级。华为轮值董事长徐直军表示，我们已经跨越了传统的铜线宽带，进入全面普及的千兆光纤宽带时代。
目前，国内宽带市场无论是宽带用户规模、宽带应用创新、宽带网络体验和宽带技术创新等各个方面，都已经走在或正在走向世界前列。
按照徐直君的说法，光纤到家庭 (FTTH) 的带宽从千兆向万兆升级。当前，运营商正在致力于将宽带网络升级到10G PON，以使更多用户可以享受千兆超宽体验，截止 11 月末全国千兆用户数突破了8700万，占总宽带用户数的16%。
与此同时，50G PON 将在 2023 年实现商用，从而更好地促进家庭数字业务的创新发展，实现宽带网络从千兆向万兆的升级。
