Rural lifestyle vlogger Li Ziqi settles with her partner company, expects to return soon
Some 531 days since she last posted new content, hugely popular Chinese vlogger Li Ziqi and her partner company Hangzhou Weinian Brand Management Co have reached a settlement under the mediation of Mianyang Intermediate People’s Court that could see the lifestyle celebrity return to the screen. The agreement has seen Li’s shareholding in Sichuan Ziqi Culture Communication Co increased from 49% to 99%, while Weinnian now holds just 1%. Known for her romanticized videos of life in rural Sichuan, which saw her become the most popular Chinese language account on YouTube and regularly rack up millions of views, Li Ziqi suddenly stopped uploading in 2021 amid a dispute with Weinian, reportedly around how her videos were being monetized. TikTok’s owner ByteDance withdrew its investment in Weinian after Li sued her partner company. Chinese media outlet China Entrepreneur cites a source as saying Li Ziqi and Weinnian have now reached an agreement and will continue to cooperate in the future.
