Yeah, that output is from an AI, and if you’re at all worried about automation replacing content creators, you’re gonna want to see this.

I asked the popular ChatGPT to write me an article on UI/UX design that goes over what designers can do to future-proof their careers.

I wanted to know just how far you could take the technology, and how convincing the content could be.

The results were honestly pretty shocking. We’ll go over the details here in a little bit, but for now, enjoy.

Can we detect AI forgeries?

Taking this a step further, I wanted to see if ChatGPT could write meta-content on this subject. It did so with flying colors.

See what I’m talking about? Content about content. No problem for AI whatsoever, and the output detector wasn’t even able to catch that it was generated by AI:

But there was something interesting that happened when I asked for supporting links.

The AI started hallucinating

I asked ChatGPT for supporting links for SEO, and it generated them, but there was a catch.

None of these links are real. AI researchers refer to this phenomenon as AI hallucination, and researchers still aren’t entirely sure why it happens, or how to fix it.

The rub here is that AI is great at giving you EXACTLY what you ask for. In this case, I asked for links, not links that worked.

So what exactly does this all mean?

Crucially, AI is absolutely fantastic at collating resources, extrapolating content, and putting it together into a relatively cohesive final product.

That being said, its still error-prone, can hallucinate, and produce results with varying quality in ways that are hard to mitigate against.

I would personally estimate that in the next 10 years, we will see an explosion of AI-produced content, and see many human-only creators outpaced by individuals and orgs that leverage AI.
