中国科学家对嫦娥五号取回月壤样品的最新研究显示， 月球表面中纬度区域太阳风在月壤颗粒表层中注入的水比以往认为的更多，而月球高纬度区域可能含有大量具有利用价值的水资源。
相关研究成果已发表在国际权威学术期刊《美国国家科学院院刊》上。
科学家一直认为，太阳风、火山喷发、小行星、彗星都有可能是月表上水的重要来源，但是，月表上的水具体是怎么来的？如何保存下来？月壤中水含量有多少？月壤中的水在空间上如何分布？这些问题尚无明确答案。
当然，这里所说的水不是通常意义的水，而是 存在于矿物中的结构水 。因为水的主要组成之一是氢，因此通常用氢含量来表达水含量。
