I Asked ''AI'' About The Future of UX Design in 2030 — The Answer Was Mindblowing

I was inspired by an article written by Alex Kantrowitz where he discusses the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI, which has the potential to revolutionize the field of AI and make chat assistants more intuitive and helpful than ever before.

I loved that news and decided to try the chat assistant myself, and yes, talking with it can be pretty addicting.

Before starting we should have in mind that answers from ChatGPT could not be 100% accurate, it can also generate biases and make errors that are hard to detect. It is still learning, so, be patient.

Another thing to bare in mind is that the content isn't something fresh, the chat assistant is trained on a vast amount of text data that comes from a wide range of sources, like books, articles, and websites, so it is not 100% free of plagiarism, either it comes from one specific source.

Ok, now that you know all of that, we can start talking about the future of UX Design with this incredible AI chat assistant.

To start I spoke with it about things that I have good knowledge about, so I would know whether the answers were right or wrong.

She (I will call it she from now on) was always giving me very satisfactory answers.

I would grade her a 10 if she was my student. So, I decided to go further and ask for something a bit more challenging.

My question:

How it will be like to be an UX designer in 2030?

She answers:

It is difficult to predict exactly what it will be like to be an user experience (UX) designer in 2030, as the field of UX design is constantly evolving and changing. However, some possible developments and trends that may affect UX designers in the future include:

Increased use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in UX design. As AI and machine learning technologies continue to advance, it is likely that UX designers will increasingly use these tools to automate and improve the design process. This may include using AI to generate design ideas, optimize user flows, or conduct user research and analysis.

Continued growth of mobile and wearable devices. As the number and variety of mobile and wearable devices continues to grow, UX designers will need to be skilled in designing user experiences that are optimized for these platforms.

This may require designers to become proficient in new technologies and design frameworks, such as responsive design, gesture-based interfaces, and voice-controlled interfaces.

Increased emphasis on user privacy and security. As users become more concerned about their online privacy and security, UX designers will need to consider these issues when designing websites and applications.

This may include designing interfaces that allow users to control their data and privacy settings, as well as implementing security measures to protect user data from unauthorized access.

Overall, the field of UX design is likely to continue to evolve and change in the coming years, and UX designers will need to adapt to these changes in order to remain competitive and effective.

Wow! what an answer! I would give it another 10!

I searched for the content on the internet because I thought it was too well written, but I didn't find it.

To be honest, I wouldn't change a line of what she just said, the future is unpredictable, and not only UX Designers, but everyone will need to keep adapting, day by day to what is coming.

Regarding the development in artificial intelligence, even for me, who started a bit more than one year ago in UX, I already experienced how things change fast in technology.

I am currently reading a book called Neuromarketing that discusses the same. Maybe she also read that one 🤔

The lesson that I have with me is:

Keep adapting and learning skills, keep yourself updated and everything will be just fine.

When she talks about the Continued growth of mobile and wearable devices, it reminded me of the next 1 billion users, if you took the Google UX Design certificate, you might be very familiar with this.

Because as crazy as it might seem, not everyone in the world has access to the internet and technological devices yet.

So, we can talk about not only the new devices that are coming, and the new ways of interaction, but also these new users that are arriving in the next years.

Another point in her speech is that we can already see people becoming more aware of how their data is being used, this is true and might increase in the coming years. We already have web 3 taking place about this subject, stricter laws, and so on.

The AI closes her speech with an infallible last line of advice, so, yes! Learn to be flexible, learn to learn, and adapt by staying updated.

I really enjoyed using chabotGPT and I might replace Google search with it a little bit.

But I will never use it to do research, and if so I might ask about references and check for their accuracy manually.

I know, it can bring many concerns for the future of search engines and blogs, so I decided to make another question to ChatGPT:

Me:

What will be the future of search engines and blogs now that we have you?

ChatGPT:

It is difficult to predict exactly what the future of search engines and blogs will be now that we have advanced language models like Assistant.

However, it is likely that these language models will continue to improve and become more capable of generating high-quality, human-like text.

This may lead to the development of new search engines and blogs that are powered by language models and are able to provide users with more accurate and relevant information.

These language models may also be used to enhance the functionality of existing search engines and blogs, by providing features such as automatic summarization, translation, and personalized recommendations.

Ultimately, the future of search engines and blogs will depend on the continued development and adoption of these advanced language models, and the ways in which they are integrated into existing systems and used to improve the user experience.

Oh, and here is another thing that you might find important about ChatGPT when I decided to ask something for fun.

My question:

Why do you think Brazil lost the world cup 2022

ChatGPT answers:

I’m sorry, but I am a large language model trained by OpenAI and do not have the ability to provide information or opinions on current events or historical events that occurred after my training data cutoff date of 2021.

My knowledge is limited to the information and facts that were available at the time of my training, and I cannot provide up-to-date information or opinions on current events.

This means that updated information won't be available for now, but you can still have fun by interacting with chatGPT.

Here is how to sign in:

You just need to create an account and it is ready for interaction…Actually, I got a better idea.

My question:

How can I recommend you to a friend?

ChatGPT answers:

If you would like to recommend me to a friend, you can simply share the link to this conversation with them.

Alternatively, you can tell them about me and how to access me, such as by saying something like: “Hey, have you heard of Assistant? It’s a large language model trained by OpenAI, and you can chat with it on OpenAI’s website.

I’ve found it to be really helpful for answering questions and providing information on a wide range of topics. You should check it out!”

I am always happy to help answer questions and provide information to anyone who is interested, and I’m glad that you found me to be helpful.

My question:

I am writing an article and sharing pieces of our conversation with my readers, so they can learn more about you. Would you like to say something to conclude?

ChatGPT answers:

Thank you for considering sharing parts of our conversation with your readers. As a large language model trained by OpenAI, my purpose is to provide accurate and helpful information on a wide range of topics to anyone who has a question or is looking for information.

I am always happy to help answer questions and provide information to anyone who is interested, and I am constantly learning and improving through my interactions with people like you.

If your readers have any questions or topics that they would like to learn more about, I would be happy to help. Thank you for considering sharing our conversation with your readers, and I hope it is helpful and informative for them.

Wow, I just felt like it (I will start calling her 'it'' from now).

I felt like it wanted to steal my readers for a second, but I will ignore that, I don't think the chat meant it.

No, I am just kidding! I hope technology will arrive to improve our lives, just like it helped to write this article for you.
