Combining a unique wood-and-mesh front and lots of airflow-focused features at an affordable price, Fractal's North is a fantastic case with performance that's just as impressive as its looks.

In the end, you get a case that is "just" functional enough, but looks so gorgeous you would be forgiven by being smitten enough to feel like the internal compromises are outweighed by the positive emotions the exterior elicits. After all, adding luxury materials like wood elements to a case demands a higher price. But if the looks of the Fractal Design North don't tickle your fancy, it may be a hard sell. As such, it deserves the innovation award for its bold pursuit of design and some unique functionality, but would be hard to recommend otherwise.

The Fractal Design North looks attractive and would make a fine addition (even) to your living room. The use of natural materials for the front was a great choice because it stands out from the other chassis in the market. Also – you’ll find all the necessary features here, convenient storage options, or ample space for the installed components. There are some limitations; for example, you can put the 240 mm radiator at the top, but the RAM height can be only 35 mm.

A fine chassis for PC builders itching to forego RGB glitz in favour of genteel elegance.

Being a mid tower you have room inside for all of the latest hardware, motherboards up to ATX, graphics cards up to 355 mm, CPU coolers as tall as 170 mm, long power supplies, and up to six hard drives out of the box. For those wondering about watercooling you can fit a 360 mm radiator in the front of the case and 240 mm in the top. The case does come with two included 140 mm fans, which are mounted in the front of the case and there is an included fan hub as well. I would have liked to have seen a rear fan included though.

Fractal Design North is novel, interesting and a breath of fresh air.

With the Fractal North, PC builders have access to something that is simple, modern and relatively affordable. It's airflow design is enough to meet the needs of almost all PC builders and its premium feel makes the case an ideal chassis for those who want a modern Scandinavian-styled PC without breaking the bank.
