Get moving this holiday with a fitness advent calendar
Love the name and the branding. The idea of creating a sharable GIF is brilliant. Reminds me of the auto-generated (and hilarious) videos Sandbox creates.
What happens if this is wildly successful and tens of thousands of people complete the 25-day challenge, @kaitlyn_krieger? Do you have a budget or max for your donation. I guess that's a champagne problem. 😅
Hi! I'm Kaitlyn Krieger, a cofounder of Shimmy. We're a nonprofit on a mission to get America moving, especially during the busy holiday season. Today, we’re launching our iPhone app, where people can “unwrap” a daily short workout for the next 25 days. It’s a fitness advent calendar that’s only alive for 25 days, so please try it soon!
Over our beta testing period, we’ve seen people come together with family and friends to do our Shimmy workouts — it’s a great way to spend 7 minutes moving your body and having fun with those close to you. We’ve also found there’s power in having everyone on the app do the same workout every day: it reduces the decision overload of “what do I do to move my body?” and also sparks conversation among friend groups.
Finally, there’s a charitable component that’s aligned with the giving season and also designed to motivate people to build a daily workout habit. For each person who completes all 25 workouts by Christmas Day, Shimmy will donate $25 to mission-aligned charity.
One fun feature we’d love the Product Hunt community’s thoughts on is our “Shimmy Move of the Day” GIF maker. Once people complete a workout, the trainer leads them in making a looping GIF of the signature move of that day’s workout — the end result is a fun, sharable memento of your workout that day.
This product came together from idea to launch in less than 90 days (including filming 33 fitness videos!), and we’re grateful to everyone who helped us get here. We’re excited to hear what you think! A special thanks to our hunter, @chrismessina.
