Elon Musk is an innovative genius – Italy “begs” for Tesla electric cars

Tesla is one of the biggest names in the electric car industry. As the auto industry moves to electric vehicles, the value of Tesla continues to increase. So it’s no surprise that Tesla has received invitations to build plants in several countries. These countries include nickel rich Indonesia and, more recently, Italy. Italy is home to many of the world’s most iconic car brands. The company boasts of brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati, among others. Italian Infrastructure and Transport Minister, Matteo Salvini said it would be great if Italy also had a world-class electric car maker.

The minister shared his thoughts during a webinar organized by Italian newspaper Le Courier. He said: “I saw a photo of Elon Musk, he is such an innovative genius. I hope he can cooperate more with Italy. We will create a standard that can attract foreign investment and capital. Italy seeks to become an innovation leader”.

Italy will support Tesla and Elon Musk

Salvini notes that the Italian auto industry would benefit from the arrival of Tesla. He also blasted the challenges at Tesla’s Berlin factory.  He claims to know about the problems that Musk is facing in Germany. If Tesla does invest in Italy, Italy will fully support the electric car maker, Salvini claims.

He said: “Unfortunately, the Italian car industry no longer exists. Now I still want to drive an Italian car, not a German car. Therefore, inviting Musk to invest in a factory in Italy is one of the goals we set for ourselves. I know he has problems in Germany and we are opening the door for him”.

Tesla’s growth in Europe is currently being boosted by higher production at its Berlin Gigafactory. However, the project has been plagued by protests from local environment groups. The company had to struggle to get the final permission. Protests against the Berlin plant have been on since then. Local environment groups are still trying to prevent the facility from operating.
