Before we reach that time, we first need to traverse Black Friday. For a lot of people, that's when they'll strike to purchase their new cell.
But if you're more concerned with finishing off the leftover turkey and pumpkin pie than shopping, you're unlikely to miss out if you wait for a Cyber Monday phone deal. And, by bookmarking this page, you'll be able to cut to the chase to see exactly what deals are hottest on the day.

Should you wait for a Cyber Monday phone deal?
The week or two ahead of Cyber Monday is when we usually see Black Friday phone deals grow exponentially in quality and quantity. By the time that Thanksgiving comes around, some remarkable prices and offers will have dropped in to place.
What tends to happen in the mobile industry is that the best deals that turn up on Black Friday aren't surpassed over the weekend and in to Monday. So if you don't see the exact deal you were hoping for on the Friday, there's probably no point sitting on your hands in the hope that something better will materialize - with some exceptions (like Verizon), it's relatively rare for companies to drop specific Cyber Monday cell phone deals.
That said - and this was especially the case in 2021 - it's also unusual for carriers and networks to completely pull their best savings when the clock reaches midnight on Black Friday. So if you do choose to hold your horses and just wait things out to see what turns up, you're unlikely to see the best bargains disappear.
So just make sure that you do hit that 'buy' button before the end of Cyber Monday, as you will see that many offers will be be taken down by the time we get to Tuesday, November 29.

When will Cyber Monday phone deals start in 2022?
Cyber Monday falls on November 28 this year, although we expect to see some early-bird deals crop up over the prior weekend (or even before that). As we say above, continuation deals from Black Friday are common, although a number of carriers do offer distinct promotions on each day, such as Verizon (opens in new tab).
In any case, we'd advocate checking in early if you'd like to catch the primo promotions. We'll be updating this page with all the very best Cyber Monday phone deals as they land, so it's definitely worth bookmarking this page and revisiting closer to the date if you're interested.
Is Cyber Monday a good time to buy a cell phone?
Regardless of whether you're looking for an upgrade on your carrier device or simply just a cheap unlocked phone, Cyber Monday should have excellent deals on both.
For carrier devices, we expect all the big networks to be offering slightly better trade-in terms, switching bonuses, and potentially even buy-one get-one free bundles. For unlocked devices, it's likely we'll see some of the biggest upfront savings all year - especially on Android flagships.

Which cell phones will be discounted for Cyber Monday?
The Samsung Galaxy S22, Google Pixel 7 and even iPhone 14 should have fairly decent deals over Cyber Monday, as well as other recent models. That said, straight-up discounts might be difficult to find on some models. iPhones in particular never really tend to have upfront discounts per se, only big trade-in options via the carriers.
Unlocked Android devices, on the other hand, could have really big price cuts at Amazon and other leading retailers. We've seen record-low prices on Galaxy and OnePlus devices over Cyber Monday and Black Friday before, for example.

3 tips for buying a phone deal on Cyber Monday
1. Research models ahead of time
By the time that we get to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you don't still want to be uhm-ing and ah-ing about which phone exactly it is that you want to buy. Narrow it down to a well-researched shortlist.
Android or iPhone; 2022 model, or something a bit older. Check for features, size, camera quality and whatever else is most important to you in a cell phone.
2. Deal types to look out for
Just like the above tip, it pays to be prepared. So we'd suggest considering now what kind of deal you want. In the US, there's a common trend for the big carriers to offer BOGO deals - handy if friends or family members are also on the hunt for a new mobile right now. If you're current handset is still in good condition, think about the potential for a trade-in to save hundreds - sometimes even over 1,000 - of dollars.
3. Worth a gamble?
As we've explained above, it's not traditional for a whole flurry of new, jaw-dropping phone deals to drop on Cyber Monday. So if you like something that you see on Black Friday or the sales weekend, we'd suggest just grabbing it while stocks last rather than playing the waiting game.

Apple iPhone 11: $499 free with eligible trade-in at Apple
Apple directly has one of the best trade-in schemes for the iPhone 11 right now, offering a free device with eligible trade-ins. Of course, as the device is pretty affordable now, even cheaper smartphone trade-ins will save you a considerable amount on this device right now.
Apple iPhone 12: $20 $15/mo with an unlimited plan at AT&T
AT&T's got a great saving on the iPhone 12 which you don't even need to trade-in to access. Simply pick up a device with a new line on an unlimited data plan and the carrier will cut your monthly device installment down by a whole $5 per month. That's a price cut of $180 over a 36-month plan duration - a nice little price cut that's good if you don't happen to have a decent phone to trade. Note, savings are also available on the 12 Mini.

Save $250 – This Cyber Monday deal is bringing back the same savings that were available on Black Friday, letting you get a second chance to score the bigger Galaxy S21 Plus for just $749. The Google Pixel 5a is an already very affordable device so big discounts are mostly out of the question. With this offer, you'll save $50, only having to pay $399 for the device. While not a giant saving, it does make an already cheap device even more affordable.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus has a slightly larger saving with £150 being knocked off the price. That makes this almost the same price that you would normally pay for the Galaxy S21. However, it is worth noting that there aren't that many differences between this and the S21. If you're not worried about having a slightly smaller phone, the S21 will probably be the better choice.
