Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO officially announced that the company will lay off no less than 11,000 employees. Frustration and disappointment now cloud many of the unlucky employees. Although Zuckerberg did apologies for his mistakes, it is not enough for the fired employees. Meta had to layoff employees due to its overinvestment. However, some of Meta’s former employees have now taken to social media to vent their frustration

Former Meta recruiter Brianna Sgro, who announced her dismissal on LinkedIn, wrote… “I’m now out of a job and I’m heartbroken, hurt, disappointed and hesitant.”

“When I joined this company a year ago, I was full of confidence and excitement. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to work for this company. I used to go to work thinking: ‘Wow, what if I had a chance at Facebook or What a job at Google!'” Sgro said on LinkedIn. “While all of these things are over today, I’m grateful to have this work experience.”

Meta employees are “stranded”

Despite the layoff, many employees are grateful for the opportunity.

“It’s hard to write this down,” Cai Mailhes, a former tech recruiter at Meta, wrote on LinkedIn. “Today I was fired from Meta. I never imagined that a workplace that made me feel so safe and my time working from home would end this way. After getting promoted and developing my career within the company, I never thought of going away. My colleagues are absolutely the brightest and most talented.”

However, the response of the employees are not all positive. A couple, both works for Meta tech recruiters had to go. This is happening just months after returning from maternity leave. This means that the family is now without a job.

Immigrant employees have a very short time to get a new job. However, Meta claims it will assist these employees. Meta has cut staff in the US, UK, Ireland and Ghana. The talents that were cut off range from product designers, recruiters, to even engineers and marketers.
