Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro is also foldable, but folds only once

Yesterday we saw a curious foldable iPhone mod. Until now, we don’t even know if that is real. But the list of regular phones becoming foldable devices keeps growing. The ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro was put under some stress by JerryRigEverything, and after a certain level of pressure became a foldable phone. Unfortunately, this is the kind of foldable phone that folds to its death.

The ROG Phone 6 Pro can’t withstand the bend test

Obviously, the title and the allegation of the ROG Phone 6 Pro becoming foldable is just an irony. Or perhaps, the foldable iPhone keeps haunting my mind. Anyway, the fact is that ASUS’ latest gaming phone went through the same stress applied by the YouTuber in the last year’s model. How it fared in this test? Gaming phones, especially those from ASUS, are known for their bulky build and design. However, the fancy design does not necessarily mean a super-strong body. Not even the ROG Phone 6 Pro was able to withstand Zack’s ideas of torture.

As usual, Zack made a lot of tests that you probably never do in the real world. For example, putting a lighter to burn your screen. However, bend tests have a certain level of usability. After all, without a decent build, phones can bend in real-world scenarios, like accidentally sitting on your phone while it’s in your pocket.

The Gorilla Glass Victus on the ROG Phone 6 Pro front is scratched at level 6 on the Mohs scale, with deeper grooves at level 7. The sides of the phone really boast aluminum, and the buttons are removable. The camera bump has a glass coating to protect the lenses. Going back to the lighter’s part, the AMOLED screen can withstand for at least 30 seconds under flame. After that, the area will become black and never go back.

It folds to death

When it comes to the bend test, the phone fails miserably. The ROG Phone 6 Pro snaps in half easily after the first try. Curiously, the screen does not crack (is it foldable?). Unfortunately, the new foldable phone bent to the point of becoming unusable. The rear of the phone does not fare well in the test, the glass snaps in thousands of spots.

We know that these tests are here just for the sake of fun. After all, you won’t be reckless enough to pay almost $2000 for the ROG Phone 6 Pro to see how it fares on a bending test. Anyway, the phone seems to keep the legacy of its predecessor.
