在今年初举行的GDC 2022上，索尼向游戏开发者而展示了即将推出的PlayStation VR2（PS VR2）头显。许多游戏开发者体验了该设备以后，都对PlayStation VR2赞不绝口，反馈都相当正面，不过当时索尼并没有提供其具体的发售时间和定价。
索尼刚刚宣布，PlayStation VR2将于11月15日开启预购，并于2023年2月22日正式推出，建议零售价为549.99美元（约合人民币4017.51元），里面包括了PlayStation VR2头戴装置、PlayStation VR2 Sense控制器和一款尚未公开的立体声耳机。索尼还为控制器提供了一个充电装置以供选购，价格为49.99美元（约合人民币365.16元）。PlayStation VR2并不便宜，甚至比PlayStation 5游戏主机本身的定价还要高。
PlayStation VR2通过USB-C连接到PlayStation 5，采用了单眼2000×2040分辨率的OLED屏幕，刷新率为90/120Hz，提供了4K HDR和110度视野，以获得高质量的视觉体验。PlayStation VR2 Sense技术结合眼动追踪、耳机反馈、3D音频和PlayStation VR2 Sense控制器，打造出深度的沉浸感。配合PlayStation 5的Tempest 3D AudioTech还可以让玩家周围的声音变得更加真实，带来与众不同的游戏感受。其中眼动追踪的硬件由瑞典Tobii制造，这是一家专门从事眼动追踪解决方案的公司。
索尼还宣布了11款新的PlayStation VR2游戏，其中包括了《Switchback VR》、《Cities VR - Enhanced Edition》、《Crossfire: Sierra Squad》和《The Light Brigade》等。
