dropping others, but here are two flights I have booked now.

One, already lots of seats taken. Are you saying people shouldn't be able to pick seats here if they want? 1/

Two, not a lot of people chosen here, this makes it easier for gate agents.

there is no simple solution here. Families do struggle with booking and paying. Always have, always will. Southwest might make things easier as they do general boarding, but I don't think they let famillies on early with kids above 2yo.

I fly a lot. 20 trips a year, so often I'm on about 50+ airplanes. It's stressful for families with kids trying to sit together, but often there is a parent with a kid. People do move and are accommodating when asked. I've done it at times, but not often. I do see complaints 4/
But a bunch of those are why can't Mom, Dad, and two kids sit together? If Mom gets a kid and Dad gets a kid, that's OK. If a parent has 2 kids, usually someone switches or the attendants help them find 2 seats or 2+1 across an aisle. 5/
there are times I don't switch, however. I fly a lot and I'm tired. I have wide shoulders, middle sucks and it can mess up my back/neck. A 10yo sitting by themself in the middle isn't the end of the world. Often others will help the kid cope, or I've chatted with kids to help 6/6
