Tim Cook Technically Waved the Checkered Flag at the USGP
Apple CEO Tim Cook was at the USGP this weekend. He seemed to keep a pretty low profile, mostly in the background, just checking out the scene and the cars. In fact, he kept such a low profile that he and other Apple exec (and huge car guy) Eddy Cue were actually pushed out of the way by Martin Brundle during his grid walk so he could get a closer look at Mercedes changing Hamilton's brakes:
That low profile carried over to when Cook waved the checkered flag, since it seemed like he was hoping nobody would see him do it:
Maybe Tim didn't want to make his Apple Watch think he was doing something too strenuous, or didn't want to drop his iPhone onto the track and risk having it call 911 to say he'd been in a crash.
While it's great we got to see this moment, it is too bad that we didn't get to see the finish from Sebastian Vettel's point of view, because the four-time champ was pretty stoked to finish eighth:
