10月19日8时58分，随着最后1米拱部岩体被凿通， 历经25个月的艰苦建设，作为成自宜高铁(成都至自贡至宜宾)的全线控制性工程，龙泉山一号隧道顺利贯通。
成自宜高铁连接四川省的成都市、内江市、自贡市、宜宾市，全长约260公里，设计时速350公里，设成都东站、天府站、天府机场站、资阳西站、球溪站、威远站、自贡站、邓关站、大观站、临港站、宜宾站共11座车站，其中成都东站、自贡站为既有站。
龙泉山一号隧道进口端位于四川省成都市龙泉山城市公园风景区境内，全长8456米，设计时速350公里，最大埋深约320米，单洞双线设计，地质条件十分复杂，属于I级高风险隧道。
建设过程中，参建单位创新采用了隧道全工况机械化高效建造成套技术，配备智能化衬砌台车、智能化养护台车、三维激光扫描仪、隧道多工况履带式边墙凿毛机等，机械化、智能化配套设备使用率达到95。
