TrustCheck
Powerful web3 transaction security
GM Hunters,
I’m Ricky, Co-Founder of Web3Builders. Today we’re launching TrustCheck as part of our mission to make Web3 safe for all.
🤔 But Why Tho? The current conversation around crypto security is mostly focused on code-level vulnerabilities and self-securing networks. Think 51% attacks or massive bridge hacks. That’s all great and important stuff to guard against, but it’s not enough because most incidents occur at the individual level when Web3 users interact/transact with specific shady sites, messages, contracts, and scammers.
Delivering holistic Web3 safety means paying attention to end-user security and fraud prevention. To put it bluntly, you shouldn’t care if you lose all your crypto assets in a 51% attack or by signing a dangerous smart contract brought to you courtesy of a phishing scheme. You just want to keep your stuff safe. That’s why we created TrustCheck.
💪 So What Does It Do? TrustCheck is a free Chrome extension designed to protect you from scams before entering a project page or confirming a crypto transaction.
TrustCheck is always on and springs into action when you enter a known malicious site or go to confirm a transaction by essentially hitting the “pause” button for about two seconds. During this time it simulates and checks your transaction for known scammer addresses, malicious contracts, dangerous permissions requests, and much more. The more it is used, the more we can continuously update the ML engine and data sets that power it. Building TrustCheck has involved an incredible amount of work, complexity, and ingestion of diverse data sources – but in the end, what you get (for free!) is a simple assessment of the risk you’re facing when you go to do a variety of crypto transactions. You can stop (and hopefully report the scam to us) or proceed with more confidence.
Will we catch every scam? Of course not, but we’re getting much closer. And with help from our community, a brilliant development/data science team, and hunters like you, we might just be able to fight back against the hoards of scammers getting in the way of broader crypto adoption.
