[How-to] Unlock bootloader on Verizon Pixel/XL

I'm glad it worked for you. I expect that it's not actually a Verizon phone and that they merely had used the phone on Verizon.

I had the opposite thing happen to me a couple of years ago. I bought a P1 that was advertised as Google Edition for $50, but it was actually Verizon edition, so couldn't unlock it. It was just a quick, cheap, temporary phone, so didn't matter too much.

I may have to dig out my old devices and double-check though, just in case. I've been wrong before.

man, this makes me just more shocked how lucky I was. The timing I did mine at having no clue it would be patched.

This isn't working for me anymore. I've tried many times and have opened at least 12 tabs and nothing has allowed me to unlock it. Are there any alternate methods that don't require opening a bunch of tabs?

There are no working methods available to unlock the Verizon Pixel 1 for a very long time now. There was an extremely brief period a year or two ago, but that was the most recent time.

Your best option as of this writing is to purchase a rooted version from a 3rd party site.

NB.: Possibly a non-carrier version of the 2016 Pixel

is that works on pixel 4?
is that works on pixel 4?

"That" what exactly? If it's a Verizon variant of any phone, then you can't unlock the bootloader.

I mean this method works for Pixel 4 Verizon?

I mean this method works for Pixel 4 Verizon?

This thread has detailed several methods that for limited times had worked, but do not currently work on this phone, and also:

If it's a Verizon variant of any phone, then you can't unlock the bootloader.

The answer is no, no Verizon variant of any kind of phone can get it's bootloader unlocked.

For those of you coming here in 2022, things you should know:

1. If you ever put a Verizon sim in your device, Verizon pushes an update that locks your phone. After that it can never be unlocked again.
2. If it's a Verizon phone: There was an update silently pushed several years ago to "fix" this bypass, so it no longer works. The update was pushed to all Verizon pixels even if they weren't connected to Verizon's network. It's difficult to tell if your device is a Verizon device because they look and function identical to the Google version only you can't OEM unlock them.

Since the only way to get a current version of Android onto your OG pixel is with a third party ROM, it is now basically garbage and should be treated as such.

This synopsis does not bode well for power users regarding the future of purchasing a carrier variant device.

Yes I paid for him and he unlocked the bootloader of Verizon Pixel 1 (Android 10) in few minutes.
It seems to that he has the private key to decrypt the BL. He did not flash any custom ROM.
I also paid him to unlock the bootloader. Surprisingly, in the fastboot mode it does say " Device is UNLOCKED" but the OEM option in Developer Mode is greyed out.

I did follow the steps in the post#1 and the result it gave,

"C:\adb>fastboot oem unlock
...
(bootloader) Device already : unlocked!
OKAY [ 0.050s]
finished. total time: 0.060s"

Now searching for how to install TWRP, custom ROM.
