Seeing as this is one of the new main features for the 14 pro line is this should you are currently using?

Yes I’m using it. It doesn’t seem to have any significant impact on battery life. The one thing I have noticed is that in the morning when I check my phone the brightness setting has gone down all the way to bottom and this may well have something to do with the AOD.

I only turn it on if i’m going to show someone the phone otherwise it’s off. Sucks too much battery from the phone. Plus it gets old after awhile.

Having said that, if I don’t have my watch on I’ll activate it to keep track of the time.

Yes, 14 PM. Haven't seen any battery drain to be of concern at all.

Used it for the first two weeks and quite liked it but did wonder whether I really needed it given I have an Apple Watch. Decided to turn it off and my battery life is much much better. I was disappointed with my 14 PM coming from a 13 PM in terms of battery life but now AOD is off I’d say things are back on par

I have the AOD AO since launch day. No adverse affect on the battery.
96% at 6:40pm Monday night to
46% at 12:33pm Tuesday afternoon.
18 hours more or less.

Same. I can’t think of one benefit already having an Apple Watch.

No I don't use AOD because I have it ON for my Apple Watch. I feel it's a bit reduntant to have both on. So the AOD will be off on my iphone. I get way better battery life having it turn off then being on.

There must be a problem with your phone. AOD only uses 1hz refresh rate and minimal power. On my phone it uses hardly any power.

I can. I have an iPhone 14P and an AW and I use AOD. I have my watch set to only alert me for "important" things...work messages, Teams chats, texts, deliveries, and live sports updates. That's it.

I get tons of alerts on my phone I don't need sent to my watch, such as social media or news updates, but I still want to see them at a glance when I look at my phone. I also use the calendar widget on the phone's AOD display to see my next appointment.

What I found with AOD is you have to wake the screen and use Face ID to properly see the notifications anyway so I didn’t see the advantage. Even some of the widgets blank out when locked. The only positive I found was a quick glance at the clock!

Like many have responded, I have an Apple Watch, so I see no use for AOL. Also, I am getting 48+ hours from my battery (14 Pro Max).

sometimes it's useful and sometimes it's just extraneous. the easiest thing to do is just leave it alone and set your phone screen-side down when you definitely don't need it.

I thought I would like AOD, but it's actually kind of annoying. I kept seeing the phone in peripheral vision and thinking there was a new notification. Ended up just turning it off.

People will just believe whatever they want to believe. AOD's effect on battery life is negligible.

Define negligible. In my experience I would guess it’s between 0.5 and 1% an hour. That’s still up to 16% ish a waking day. Not a lot if its a feature you use but a waste of battery and additional charge cycles over the course of a year if it’s something that you don’t find very useful

People stress way too much over the battery charges in general. You are not going to ruin the battery in a year by charging it. These aren't old nickel batteries from the early 2000s. My 13PM is still at 100% battery health, despite being charged literally every night since release.

No argument from me if you don't like the AOD, but this idea of the battery being overcharged is a non-issue.

I wear an Apple Watch and have AOD on my iPhone 14 Pro. After some initial acclimation, I find AOD to be generally useful even though it's in early days.

I tried turning it off and found it made only a small difference in battery life, worth it to leave on.

This. For example I finally replaced he battery in my 4 year old Xs max as it was shutting off at 30% even though battery health was about 96%. Use the phone like you “stole it” and don’t worry about battery life. Just be aware the number one killer of battery life is heat-excessive heat.

I shouldn't partake as I don't have an iPhone 14 but I've toyed with it at Apple Stores and its design is very bizarre to me. It resembles those old plastic dummy phones with still pictures on the display. Back when I was a kid, we played fantasy with those kinds of phones and were lucky to get iPods at 13. Always on display also makes the iPhone look like those mockup dummies MacRumors posted in the lead-up to 14's launch.

Yes. I have decided not to withhold using features of the phone because of being scared of the battery life. I can charge the phone whenever I want. In the end years have gone and features weren’t used. What a waste.

AOD on the 14PM actually frees up a complication space on my AW. Since I can now glance at my phone to check my AW battery.

Notifications at glance is something you don't even get on the AW AOD.

I don't have CarPlay in my ride, so AOD is perfect when my iPhone is cradled on my dash.

Not using it. My watch gives me the information I need at a glance.
