At first glance, Selena Gomez is a fabulously successful actress and singer. But she has had her share of troubles, including medical and mental health problems.

Upcoming Apple TV+ documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me looks at her struggles to overcome these challenges. And the first trailer, released Monday by Apple, gives us a sense of what to expect.

Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me is a ‘uniquely raw and intimate documentary’

Gomez got her start acting on Barney & Friends when she was only 10 years old. She became famous as a teenager starring in teen fantasy sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place. At the same time, she released three albums that went gold.

Then she was diagnosed with lupus and required a kidney transplant. She also suffers from anxiety and depression, and deals with bipolar disorder.

These problems certainly did not end her career, though. She currently stars in the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building (she was nominated for best actress in a comedy series by the Critics’ Choice Television Awards). And so far, Gomez has sold more than 210 million singles worldwide and amassed more than 45 billion streams of her music.

Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me covers her six-year struggle to come back from her medical and mental difficulties.

The documentary is directed and produced by Alek Keshishian, who made the groundbreaking Madonna: Truth or Dare.

Apple TV+ will premiere Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me on Friday, November 4. Watching will require a $4.99-per-month subscription to Apple’s streaming service.
