World Food Day is October 16, and United has teamed up with Chase to encourage its cardholders to support the fight against hunger and food insecurity. From October 1 to October 31, 2022, eligible United credit card holders can earn 5x miles on donations to select non-profit organizations that provide meals, groceries, and other aid in the US and abroad.
The participating charities are Rise Against Hunger, World Central Kitchen, and Feeding America. Because it's rare to find credit cards that offer bonus rewards for charitable donations, this is a great opportunity to do some good and boost your stash of United miles at the same time.

To earn the bonus miles, use your qualifying United credit card to make a donation directly to the charity's parent organization (local chapters may not be eligible). You can find donation information on United's dedicated promotion website, or through the links below:
- Rise Against Hunger: A global organization committed to helping communities in need
- World Central Kitchen: Provides meals on the frontlines during humanitarian, climate, and community crises
- Feeding America: This domestic hunger-relief organization operates 200 food banks across the US
You don't need to enroll in the promotion — just pay for your donation with your eligible card during the month of October, and you should see the bonus miles in your United MileagePlus account within eight weeks.
Two of the non-profits included in this promotion (World Central Kitchen and Feeding America) are also eligible charities under Chase's Pay Yourself Back program. With Pay Yourself Back, you can redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards® points toward qualifying charitable donations at a higher rate than the usual 1 cent each.
For example, Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders can redeem points with a 50% bonus (1.5 cents apiece) toward eligible charity purchases through December 31, 2022. And if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, you'll get a 25% bonus (1.25 cents per point) when you use them toward charity purchases until the same date.
