What are SAP Work Zone workspaces? |Summer Tutorial Series |Lesson 3: Workspaces

Welcome to the third lesson of our summer tutorial series on SAP Work Zone. In an earlier lesson we learned about workspaces as one of most important building blocks of SAP Work Zone. In this lesson let’s dive deeper into the workspace capabilities that empower all users of the system, administrator, citizen developers and regular end users, to create engaging experiences in SAP Work Zone.

As mentioned in the previous Lessons of this tutorial series, the role used in this demo is of Stephanie, Head of customer service strategy at ´´AirX´´. Now let´s go over the Lesson step-by-step explaining the workspaces in SAP Work Zone.

Step 1 – Creating a new workspace

Stephanie can go to the workspaces option and click on view all workspaces. Here she can see all her workspaces and can click ´new workspace´. She can give a name to her workspace and add a description for it. There are three types of workspaces: public, private, and external workspaces. After selecting the type of workspace, she can simply click on create to finish the process.

Step 2 – Overviewing parental leave workspace

Stephanie will go and visit the parental leave workspace available for employees at AirX. This workspace will provide Stephanie with a one stop-shop experience around the parental leave topic. The overview page of this workspace makes use of the no-code page design experience and cards and widgets. These overview pages are only accessible to the workspace members.

Step 3 – Exploring available workspace sections

• Feed updates section

For user interaction Stephanie can go to the feed update section which provides a chronological feed view of comments, posts, and other user actions in a workspace.

• Forum section

From the forum interaction section Stephanie can subscribe to the frequently asked questions, receive notifications on the activities of a specific forum topic, and raise her own questions as well. This section supports a structed approach for user interaction.

• Recommendations section

To check out the trending and recommended topics of a workspaces, Stephanie can check out the recommendations section.

• Sub-workspaces section

This section gives Stephanie the ability to create nested workspaces that are called as sub-workspaces and provide greater flexibility. One level of sub-workspaces is supported, with independent membership, content, and feature control. For example, here she can find the sub-workspace related to managers on parental leave.

• Content section

To exchange information with other users and access the huge amount of content provided from blogs, wikis, office documents and multi-media assets, Stephanie can use the content section. This allows her to access various types of content and to create content herself. This section provides the capability of structing and managing content within a workspace.

• Knowledge base section

The knowledge base section provides Stephanie with a form-based method of sharing knowledge with your workspace members. All knowledge base entries that she has access to will flow into the cross-workspace knowledge base.

• Tasks section

This section provides Stephanie with a collaborative task management feature that allows her to track key activities of members across the workspace. In this section she can see all her upcoming tasks and can mark the appropriate status of the task as well.

This gives Stephanie all the information about parental leave in one single SAP Work Zone workspace, and she also connected to a community of fellow working mothers and fathers at AirX.
