Devtoberfest 2022 Week 1

Devtoberfest_LogoDarkMode1.pngIt’s a little hard to believe, but just like the arrival of Pumpkin Spice Lattes in the Northern Hemisphere; Devtoberfest 2022 has arrived! If you need any refresher of what Devtoberfest is, then quickly check out this blog post: Devtoberfest 2022: Return of the Developer | SAP Blogs. And if you haven’t registered yet for Devtoberfest: what are you waiting for? To be eligible for the big prizes and to be notified about all the fun activities and educational content, you’ll want to be sure to sign up by simply joining the Devtoberfest Community Group. We even have a quick video to walk you through the registration process:

Educational Content

This year the educational content is structured with a different topic each day of the week.

Monday 🟢ABAP
Tuesday 🟣User Interface
Wednesday 🔵 Data and Analytics
Thursday 🔴 Low and No Code Tooling
Friday 🟠Cloud Native Development

As you can see from this calendar view, we will repeat that same structure with new content for each topic in each week of Devtoberfest.

Devtoberfest 2022 Calendar

All the session content is listed directly in the special Community Events Devtoberfest area. You can see all the sessions in the calendar or list view and drill in and see the content details.

We have some fun sessions planned for you in Week 1.

Monday – ABAP

For the first week, the ABAP sessions will both be focused on getting started. A little refresher/intro to ABAP Object Oriented Patterns and Installing and Using ABAP Development Tools for Eclipse.

Tuesday – User Interface

Week 1 of the User Interface topic will focus on Redux and Redux Toolkit

Wednesday – Data and Analytics

Wednesday’s Data and Analytics sessions are both about Machine Learning but in the Context of SAP HANA Cloud and SAP Data Warehouse Cloud.

Thursday – Low and No Code Tooling

The Low and No Code Topic is really bringing the heat with FIVE sessions all around SAP Business Application Studio.

Friday – Cloud Native

And last but certainly not least, Friday’s Cloud Native topics will address the entry questions about What is Cloud Native and What is Kubernetes.

Fun Friday Activity

The Fun Friday Activities return this year and we are ending week one with one of the most popular activities from last year: Petoberfest! Post a picture of your pet, with your pet or of your pet coding.  You can post those on social media with the #Petoberfest, just be sure to return and place a link to your entry in the Petoberfest community group to receive your badge and contest points.  You can read all about this Fun Friday activity here:

Content Activities

This year we have a great new grand prize to go with the Devtoberfest contest. It’s an all-expense paid trip (see details below) to SAP’s Newport Beach office in California to meet with SAP leaders, product experts and an VIP experience at one of SAP’s major customers that just so happens to also be one of the most magical places on earth.

  • Economy round-trip airfare during event specific dates
  • Single Occupancy Hotel Room during event specific dates
  • Airport transfer fees to and from major gateway airports during event specific dates
  • Meals during event specific dates
  • Theme Park ticket, meals, and transportation on specific date

Like last year, this includes watching the educational sessions (live or recorded) and answering some tutorial questions about the content as well as completing related developer tutorials. So, you get to learn, have fun and work towards a great trip all at the same time.
