Twitter is a popular social media platform with almost 400 million users. As of January 2022, Twitter had the most users in the United States, with almost 80 million in the U.S. alone, according to Statista.

With so many people using Twitter, and social media in general, you may not want everyone in the world to see what you are postingand would like to keep what you share online to only those you know. If so, this is how you can protect your Tweets.

How to make a Twitter account private

According to Twitter, here is how to protect your tweets or make your account private.

  • Tap the three dots on the left-hand side if you are using Twitter on your web browser (if you are using the Twitter app, click you profile picture in the upper left hand corner)

  • Tap on “Settings and Privacy”

  • Tap “Privacy and safety”

  • Tap on “Audience and tagging” and then turn on “Protect your Tweets"

How to unprotect your tweets

If you want to unprotect your tweets you can also easily change your settings on a web browser or in the Twitter app.

According to Twitter, here is how to unprotect you tweets.

  • Tap the three dots on the left hand side if you are using Twitter on your web browser( if you are using the Twitter app, click you profile picture in the upper left hand corner)
