Pixel Launcher still ships with themed icon drawables for many Google apps, which are read by LauncherIconProvider. It fills in the gap and uses these hardcoded themed icons as a fallback for many Google apps that don't supply them.

Currently, the list of themeable icons is hardcoded and contained within a file called grayscale_icon_map.xml. This file is found in the launcher along with the drawable resources referenced in the XML.
